LANCASTER, Pa. – Police want to examine the cell phones of four Pennsylvania high school football players killed a car crash to see whether they were recording a video to post on YouTube.
South Londonderry Township police Chief Jeffrey Arnold says that a statement taken from someone at the scene of Sunday's crash indicated the teens intended to record a video. But police were later told that no footage was recorded. Arnold didn't say who gave the statement.
Arnold says he is seeking a search warrant for the victims' phones and possibly those of others at the scene.
Manheim Central High School freshman DeVaughn Lee, sophomores Nicholas Bryson and Cody Hollinger and junior John Griffith had left a team breakfast shortly before the crash.
(This version CORRECTS of victim's first name in last paragraph, Nicholas instead of Nicolas, per school district officials.)
