A 24-year-old woman was killed and two police officers were injured early Saturday in two separate accidents involving the same car, the Star-Ledger reported.

WOODBRIDGE, N.J. -- A 24-year-old woman was killed and two police officers were injured early Saturday in two separate accidents involving the same car, the Star-Ledger reported.

Police said Kara Ocasio, 24, apparently lost control of her car while heading north on the New Jersey Turnpike near Woodbridge, N.J. The car struck the right guardrail, veered left and crashed into the concrete center divider before coming to rest in the left lane.

A State Police cruiser then crashed into Ocasio's car at around 2:30am local time.

Ocasio was pronounced dead at the scene. The two troopers in the State Police car were taken to a local hospital, where they were treated and released.

Police do not know why Ocasio lost control of her car or what time the accident occurred. The State Police Fatal Accident Investigation Unit and the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office are investigating.
