Transit police in Washington are investigating a random attack that left one 47-year-old commuter bloodied and in shock, authorities say. The incident was captured on video by witnesses who apparently did nothing to help.
The victim, who asked to be identified only as Allen, told MyFoxDC.com he was targeted in an unprovoked attack as he waited for a train at the L'Enfant Metro station in Washington late Sunday.
"I was screaming and yelling and I was in shock. 'What are you doing? Stop it. Get away,'" the man told MyFoxDC.com. "They just kept hitting me."
The "rapid fire" attack by a group of teenagers startled the man, who said witnesses -- including some who caught the incident on video -- did nothing to help.
"I can't understand it or explain it either," he said. "To be out with so many people in a public place where I had every right to be and expect to be safe and to read a few pages, catch my train and go home. I don't have any explanation."
Steven Taubenkibel, a spokesman for the Washington Area Metropolitan Transit Authority, told FoxNews.com on Friday that transit authorities are continuing to pursue leads in the incident. No arrests had been made of early Friday, he said.
Footage of the attack was later posted on YouTube.
